Aquapel glass treatment

Preparing glass and correcting application problems

A good Aquapel result starts with clean, dry glass. If haze, streaks or uneven water behaviour appear after treatment, identify the cause first. Fresh excess product, road film and wiper problems require different actions.

Preparation before application

Wash off ordinary dirt, then remove insect residue, greasy film and stubborn contamination with a product intended for automotive glass. Wax, an earlier rain repellent or mineral deposits may remain after washing. Aquapel itself does not replace this preparation.

Use clean materials that have not picked up wax or polish from the bodywork. Finish the final cleaning by drying completely. Check the edges separately: water from under the mouldings can reach the already prepared surface.

If the history of the old coating is unknown and the glass wets in patches, first bring it to a uniform condition. A water test helps reveal differences between areas, but the shape of a drop cannot identify the composition of the contamination.

If fresh haze remains

Buff the surface with a clean, dry paper towel. Do not leave Aquapel to dry on the glass; dried excess product may require additional dry buffing.

If cloudiness persists, check the surface and wiping materials. Do not hide the problem with another layer or drive with visibility that prevents you from seeing the road clearly.

If you see streaks or isolated patches

An area may have been missed, or there may be residue from a previous product or contamination. First clean the glass with a normal automotive glass cleaner. If boundaries remain, assess preparation and evenness of application. A single streak cannot reliably identify either a counterfeit product or a faulty applicator.

If water beads but hardly clears

Check that the surface is clean and consider the observation conditions. Small drops in drizzle may remain longer; airflow over a side window also differs from that over the windscreen. Compare the same area's behaviour under similar conditions.

What determines how quickly water clears

If the wipers judder

Check the cleanliness of the glass and wiping edges and the condition of the blades, then the mechanism's contact pressure and geometry. Inspect the coating at the same time: product residue and unevenness also need attention. Do not bend the wiper arms by eye.

If the effect has weakened over time

First remove the road film. If water clears as usual after cleaning, there is no need to reapply. If the clean glass continues to perform noticeably worse, the treatment can be renewed.

Before a new treatment

Finish cleaning, dry the glass and have the towels ready. Only then open the applicator.
