Aquapel glass treatment

Aquapel in winter: glass care

In winter, start assessing the coating by cleaning the glass. Salt, road grime and screenwash residue can mask its performance. If water clears as usual after cleaning, there is no need to reapply.

Screenwash and washing remain part of routine care

Use screenwash suited to your car and the temperature. Normal glass cleaning is compatible with Aquapel care. If a product contains its own rain repellent or wax, it may change the surface's behaviour.

Have streaks appeared after changing the fluid or wash programme? Clean the glass and check the wipers. Do not try to improve the result by adding household products to the reservoir.

Remove ice first

Aquapel may make ice and snow easier to remove, but icing is still possible. Use the car's built-in defrosting system and a suitable, clean tool. Do not switch on frozen wipers or use them to break away a crust of ice.

Avoid dragging sand and hard dirt across the glass. The treatment does not make the surface scratch-resistant.

Keep an eye on the wiping edges

Frozen, dirty or damaged rubber can leave streaks and judder. First ensure the wipers are in good working order. If juddering persists, check the glass and mechanism using the separate guide.

When to reapply Aquapel

After cleaning, assess water movement and surface uniformity. The working area of the glass is constantly exposed to wipers and road contamination. Assess it separately from the edges.

If clean glass still performs well, the calendar alone does not call for another applicator. If the useful effect has noticeably weakened, repeat the treatment under suitable conditions.

Reapplying in winter

The same conditions are needed as in summer: approximately +10…+32 °C, clean, dry glass and no excessive humidity. Do not carry out the procedure in a cold car park. Indoors, let the glass warm up and make sure no water is coming from under the seals.
